Not all ‘fizzy drinks’ are bad for you and full of sugar
Read what our UK Sales Manager Chris Sanders has to say about the school drinks market:
Are pupils responding well to the school food requirements on drinks sizes?
School children are savvy and always want value for money! Our schools drinks offer students the maximum portion size available in schools which complies with the government regulations, allowing them to get more for their money!
Do pupils demand fizzy drinks or do they like the exclusivity of the soft drinks found in schools?
Not all ‘fizzy drinks’ are bad for you and full of sugar. Our Radnor Fizz range is a selection of sparkling fruity drinks in 6 flavours that are all fully school compliant. Kids want fizz! And this shows in our school drinks sales, our ‘fizz’ option sells out our ‘still’ option by 4 to 1, both are school compliant and have no added sugar!
What sort of promotions can caterers run to promote sales of soft drinks?
Promotions are a great way of boosting sales! We are actively involved working with schools on their meal deals as our drinks have such a good price point. We love collaborating with other suppliers to make sure students are getting the best deals! We also like to put on our own promotions to help school caterers boost sales, and next year we are launching our biggest on pack promotion yet on the school compliant range. The ‘Get Active with Golf’ vision is to help promote healthy living, getting kids outdoors and off their IPads as well as offering students the chance to win golfing equipment for their schools, PGA professional visits, sets of golf clubs, tickets to the Senior Open Tour, Get into Golf days for the whole family, and so much more! The ‘Get Active with Golf’ promotion will launch after February half term next year for 12 weeks!
Are there any drink flavours that are particularly popular among pupils?
Tropical is our number 1 top seller within schools, but we like to keep updating our lines to bring students new and exciting flavours. This year we launched a new Sour Cherry flavour in the fizz range, and Raspberry & Cherry flavour in the fruits!
What is the best way to ensure pupils get their fruit intake with juices and smoothies without taking in too much sugar?
All of our drinks are school compliant and one of your recommended five a day portions. We favour using grape and apple juices as the basis for lots of our drinks as they contain less sugar, thus reducing student’s sugar intake. Our new Fruella Hydrate school compliant range, which will come in a 250ml tetra pak is a mixture of fruit and water and contains 40% less sugar than a pure juice.
