The Price Digest: Fruit Juice, Sept 2024
We’re back with another look at prices across the juice industry, with insights from our friends over at The Juice Market.
Let’s start with the good news: this quarter, lemon, raspberry and white grape juice production is looking strong. However, we’re also seeing some issues with the supply of both orange and apple juices, with prices likely to rise as a consequence.
Here’s a look at the headlines:
Lemon Concentrate
This is currently a stable market, thanks to normal crop predictions and no expected price changes.
Raspberry Juice
There are slightly smaller raspberry crops coming in, so we’re anticipating a small increase in price here.
White Grape Juice
Again, we’re seeing normal crops across Italy and Spain, so, if anything, we could prices falling slightly here. That said, this will depend on demand from other sectors of the food and drink market.
Orange Juice
A sustained spell of hot and dry weather in Brazil is likely to impact orange harvests and reduce crop sizes. We’re also seeing frozen concentrated orange juice trading at an all time high. Prices are likely to stay high and may even increase further.
Apple Juice
And finally, a note on apples. Polish apple production is facing two major challenges: adverse weather in Poland has really hampered the maturation of this year’s apple crop, and there has also been insufficient labour readily available to pick the apples. With limited apple supplies, buyers are accepting they’ll have to pay a higher price for smaller volumes. Poland’s supply of frozen apple juice concentrate is also limited.
